The Show must go on…

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

I arrived back in Australia on Saturday 12th September and by the next Wednesday I was down in Melbourne setting things up for the outreach at the Royal Melbourne Show. It is a 12-day event where we have a stall that sells books and Bibles. This gives us the opportunity to be in the Showgrounds in a prominent position where we can offer Christian literature and talk one on one with people who come by.

IMGP2335It runs from 9.30am until 8.30pm every day so it is a tiring work. Nevertheless we are pleased to have many helpers who volunteer to come and spend some time with us.

IMGP2339A special guest this year is Dave Dunstan from New Zealand. Dave is a great magician and has astounded most of the visitors at our stand with his many great “close up” tricks. After watching in amazement they usually make remarks such as, “How did you do that”? As they leave everyone has gladly accepted Gospel literature from Dave.

Please continue to pray for us during this time and then again next month when we do the same type of outreach at the Geelong Show from 14 – 18 October.

10 states in 10 days!

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

After leaving Africa I spent a day in Dubai with some Aussie friends IMGP2186and then headed for a wedding near Nuremberg in Germany.

IMGP2227aIt was great to see two young people – Astrid and Christian, who met each other during Reach the City in Vienna – (one of my training sessions in Austria) – tie the knot. What a blessing and great testimony their wedding was for all who attended.

After Germany I had a fast trip through the land of the free and the home of the brave – USA. I visited 10 states in just 10 days stoping to say hi to friends, churches and supporters who have been so faithful through the years in praying for Win and I, our family and our ministry for the Lord. These are the states I visited – (abbreviated)… MA, CT, RI, NJ, NC, TN, GA, DC, IN, CA.

IMGP2320aA special highlight was doing open air with a group of college and career young people at the bridge over the Tennessee River in Chattanooga.

I’m hoping to get back to USA again soon for some more ministry and deputation so please contact me as soon as possible if you want to schedule some ministry and/or a visit.

Thanks again…. Dave

Togo? Where’s that? You ask…

Friday, September 4th, 2009

IMGP2073Yes you know its in West Africa somewhere between Ghana and Benin. If that’s what you said then you are right. But what else do you know about Togo?

Whatever we knew before visiting is irrelevant compared with what we have experienced by being there!

IMGP2089

Kpalime is a small town near the west border of Togo and about 100klm from the coast.

IMGP2081It has only one or two sealed roads with the majority red dirt and thick mud because it teams down nearly every afternoon this time of year.

IMGP2077aEveryone gets about on the back of small motorbike “taxis” that cost only a few cents to hire.

IMGP2168“Ordinary” taxis are small 5 seater sedans at least 10 years old but looking about 35.

They are still “legally roadworthy” if they can move regardless whether they can stop or not. You pay per seat and the 4 passenger seats are actually charged as 6. So you cram in, breath in and smile nicely at the persons who are taking ALL your space

The Pastor’s Evangelism Conference went well. Jim Bellas, a Greek Australian from Brisbane and I were the guest speakers. Around 50 pastors attended. Along with their wives and other friends some days there were 100 or more in attendance.

IMGP2124Each session was filled with Bible Teaching and Evangelism Techniques and all the pastors were encouraged to go out onto the streets to share the Gospel. It was great to see them return from an outreach one day with several souls saved.

I am now in USA visiting friends, churches and supporters. Looking forward to getting back home to Australia in about a week.

There will be more about my schedule in Australia in the next post.

Please leave comments below to let me know you are praying.

Thanks… Dave
